Cetrorelix is a synthetic oligopeptide consisting of a ten amino acid chain. It acts as gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) antagonist, since it blocks the effects of gonadotropin releasing hormone which controls the release of luteinizing hormone and follicle-stimulating hormone. Luteinizing hormone is responsible for starting the ovulation during the menstrual cycle.
Since cetrorelix peptide affects reproductive hormones, it has created a lot of buzz in the scientific community and is studied for its potential in affecting ovulation in women.
